Top 10 Best Movies You Can Watch on Netflix Right Now

Despite having thousands of shows and movies available, it’s not always easy to find something to watch on Netflix. But we’re here to point you in the right direction and give you suggestions for you next movie night. We’ll present ten of the best movies, in our opinion, that you can watch on Netflix right now.

Ali (2001) (1)

This biopic, focusing on one of the greatest boxers in all history, Muhammad Ali, is perhaps the most serious film work we’ve yet seen from Will Smith. Director Michael Mann manages to draw a great performance from Smith and gives us a close-up and in-depth look at one of the best athletes the world has ever known.

American Factory (2019) (2)

Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert are the directing team behind Netflix original American Factory, perhaps the best documentary to come out in 2019. This pair tells us the story of a factory in a blue-collar neighborhood of Ohio that gets bought out by Chinese investors, Fuyao. The new management brings in workers from China, making it possible to see the difference between the treatment of American and Chinese workers.

As Good as It Gets (1997) (3)

This romantic comedy from the mind of James L. Brooks is the last film to receive the Oscar for Best Actress (Helen Hunt) and Actor (Jack Nicholson). Sometimes movies happen to catch their actors in their prime, and As Good as It Gets is a perfect example of this. Some may argue that the movie is dated, but, in our opinion, it’s well worth another look.

Blade Runner (1982) (4)

If there was a Mount Rushmore of sci-fi films, we believe that Blade Runner would be chiseled in alongside Star Wars and Alien. Even if more than 30 years have passed since this movie came out, people still talk about it and reference it. If you’re a fan of science fiction and still haven’t watched the original, watchthis next time you sit down for a session on Netflix and see how it inspired so many directors that came after it.

Blow (2001) (5)

Despite being criticized for being derivative of similar epic crime movies, Blow, starring Johnny Depp, is still a movie worth watching that has garnered a loyal base of fans over the years. This movie also holds one of the greatest performances Depp has put to film as he plays the role of George Yung who spirals into chaos as he does business with the most infamous drug cartel the world has ever known.

The Hateful Eight (2015) (6)

Although this is a slightly edited version of what was aired in cinemas, it’s more or less the same movie and has a winter setting reminiscent of spaghetti western classic The Great Silence. The Hateful Eight features a “Who Dunnit” plot full of action and suspense that will keep you glued to the edge of your seat.

The Irishman (2019) (7)

Netflix has been both ambitious and successful with its originals, notably Orange Is the New Black and Stranger Things, but they’ve never done something as big as The Irishman. Lasting 3.5 hours, this film is centered on the life and times of Frank Sheeran, who was friends with Jimmy Hoffa and an errand boy for the Italian mob. This movie has an all-star cast including Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Al Pacino, who give some of their finest performances.

Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) (8)

It’s easy to get caught up with the latest movie releases, and even easier to miss out on true vintage movie gems like Once Upon a Time in the West, that stars none other than legend Clint Eastwood. This is a timeless masterpiece and western that everyone should watch at least once.

Pan’s Labyrinth (2006) (9)

Guillermo Del Toro is perhaps most well-known for this very masterpiece. It’s a movie swaying between horror and fantasy that offers all the nightmare fuel you could ever need, even when not counting all the real-world issues and themes that are woven into the film. Ofelia is the star of this film that mixes fantasy with the cruelty she suffers at the hands of her stepfather.

The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) (10)

This thriller, featuring an incredible performance from Matt Damon, might have flown under your radar. It follows the story of a charming young man named Tom Ripley (Matt Damon), who cons his way into a friendship with wealthy Dickie Greenleaf (Jude Law) before stealing his identity.
