Everything You Need to Know About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is the brainchild of the developers who created The Witcher 3. It’s a science fiction RPG that has fans on the edge of their seats. But if you want to play this game, you’ll have to be patient. The developers at CD Projekt Red are doing their best to create a flawless gaming experience for their customers.

Release Date

The initial release date for Cyberpunk 2077 was set to be April 16, 2020. However, developers announced on their website that the release date would be delayed until September 17th, 2020. (1) Seeing as fans have been waiting to play this game since it was first announced in 2012, this small delay won’t discourage them.

Multiplayer Options

There were a lot of rumors surrounding the possibility of multiplayer content in Cyberpunk 2077. The rumors were finally confirmed last September. But don’t start celebrating yet. According to the developers, the multiplayer content won’t be available at launch. (2) At least, it’s comforting to know that multiplayer content is officially in the making.

Cyberpunk 2077 Aesthetics

The game is set in Night City, a fictional town between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Night City is owned by corporations and the laws of country and state don’t apply here. The city has six different districts that are inhabited by people from all walks of life. You can see people struggling to survive in one neighborhood, while people on the other side of town live in luxury. The City Center is filled with tall office buildings. On the outskirts of the city, you can find Pacifica. This part of town is gang territory. You can explore the city both horizontally and vertically. Given the size of each zone in the game, you’ll need a lot of time to discover every detail of Night City.

Developers have said that Cyberpunk will have a similar DLC model as The Witcher 3. So you can expect a fair share of free downloadable content and updates shortly. There will also be the option of paying for additional content and expansions.

The game also allows you to create a unique character. Apart from customizing your appearance, you’ll also be able to make decisions that will impact your story. If you are rich enough in the game, you can use cybernetic modifications to enhance your body. The plot will depend on your character’s body type and social background. (3) The game does include a fixed class system, the three available classes are Techie, NetRunner and Solo. You can also distribute skill points, according to your preference.

Gameplay

Cyberpunk immerses players in the game by using first-person perspective. You’ll be playing as a low-level mercenary in Night City. The gameplay videos feature both fast-paced shooting and exploration quests. You’ll have a chance to interact with a variety of characters in each part of the game. If you are more of a hands-on player you can avoid using guns and fight enemies in different ways. The cut-scenes feature a third-person perspective and well-scripted dialogue. You’ll be able to move around the city on foot or by driving various vehicles.

PC Requirements

We first got a look at the Cyberpunk 2077 demo at E3 in 2018. The game immediately blew us away with its design choices and graphics. Many fans were worried that they would have to spend a fortune on a new PC if they want to play this game. Although you will need a high-end PC to play the game, the specs seem pretty standard for a game of this caliber. (4)

The playable demo at E3 was run on a PC with the following specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7 8700K at 3.70GHz
  • Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming
  • RAM: 32GB of G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4 RAM with 3,000MHz speed
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti
  • Storage: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB SSD
  • PSU: Corsair SF600W

We researched the prices of these parts on the market and the total was a little above $2500. But keep in mind that PC parts get cheaper over time. There’s also the fact that the demo version of the game at E3 wasn’t optimized. So hopefully the PC specs for Cyberpunk 2077 will be at least a little lower upon release.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a fan of science fiction RPGs, Cyberpunk 2077 will be right up your alley. Open-world exploration will allow you to improve your hacking skills and combat your enemies with an arsenal of weapons. As far as we are concerned, Cyberpunk 2077 is well worth the wait.
