If you’re about to spend big bucks on a luxury car it’s best to do your research first. Cars are considered luxury mainly because of the accessories you can add to them. According to Statista, luxury cars encompass roughly six percent of the car market in the US.
Most people buying luxury cars are celebrities or wealthy socialites that couldn’t care less about the price. They view the car as a status symbol and their only concern is showing it off. On the other hand, people who want to get their money’s worth out of a luxury car are usually more careful about what features they want to be installed in their vehicles. If you’re buying a luxury car on a tight budget, you can always buy the base vehicle and customize it later down the road.
We’ve come up with a list of four helpful tips for first-time luxury car buyers to help you make the best decision and not break your bank in the process. So, without further ado there are four things you need to keep in mind when purchasing a luxury car.
Engine Power
Engine power should be your first concern when buying a car. The power of a car’s engine is measured in horsepower. The more horsepower your car has, the better its engine is and the faster it can go. When it comes to luxury cars you should look for an engine with 3000 to 500 horsepower. Needless to say that engine power directly impacts the cost of luxury cars. According to Race Track, you can get a great 500 horsepower car for under $100,000.
Safety
The second and equally important thing to keep in mind when buying a luxury car is safety features. Make sure that you choose a car that is durable and has a high number of airbags. Most modern cars have various safety features that can even help prevent crashes. Some of these features include pedestrian detection. With pedestrian detection, the car has sensors that help it detect a pedestrian and issue a warning to the driver. Some cars will even brake automatically if a pedestrian or cyclist is too close. Other cars have a City Automatic Emergency Braking system (CAEB) which allows the car to brake automatically to avoid a crash or reduce the severity of a collision.
Interior Design
The first things people notice about a car’s interior design are the leather seats and wooden dashboard. Car seats in luxury cars are commonly leather and hand-sewn by skilled factory workers. The classiest option for a dashboard is wood with a chrome finish. However, wooden dashboards are becoming a thing of the past and most manufacturers are using materials like carbon fiber to construct their dashboards. Wooden dashboards are also very heavy and could slow down your car.
Apart from customizable interior design parts, the more important thing is how the actual car is designed. If you are going to drive it every day, make sure there is plenty of legroom and headroom. If you are a family man or someone who likes to travel by car make sure that the car has enough room to fit your family and ample trunk space.
Gadgets
The last things that should be on your list of priorities are technological features and gadgets. Gadgets are specifically designed to make your driving experience more enjoyable and safe. The basic gadget you’ll want to have is a GSP. But, modern cars offer so much more. If you install cameras with parking mode, you’ll avoid the risk of damaging your car in the parking lot. Dash cams are also extremely helpful in preventing collisions and crashes. You can also choose to install Bluetooth adapters and charger ports for your phone. There’s even the option of installing monitors in the front seats so your passengers can enjoy watching movies while you drive.
Some of these features are standard in luxury cars, but those cars usually cost a fortune. If you’re not big on gadgets, you can always ask your car dealer to remove the technological features that are optional and unnecessary. This will significantly lower the cost of your new luxury car.
Of course, there are many other things to consider when buying a luxury car. Depending on your preferences and lifestyle you will decide on the size of the car, the maker, the color and so much more. Those things are important, but they are usually not deal-breakers if you are shopping on a budget. In this case, your primary concern should always be power, safety, functionality, and price.
